At MC Audio Sydney, we work with many high-end vehicles, but every now and then a project comes in that represents something deeper than luxury.
The Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series 2025 is one of those vehicles.
This is not about flashy interiors or advanced factory tech. This is about durability, legacy and purpose. A vehicle designed to last decades, to go anywhere, and to keep working no matter the conditions.
And that is exactly why Matt came to us.
The Challenge: A Legendary Vehicle with a Basic Audio System
Matt approached us with a clear goal:
👉 Improve the sound experience without compromising the vehicle’s purpose.
Like many LandCruisers, the interior is extremely simple. The factory system felt outdated, with:
• A head unit that feels like early 2000s technology
• Basic paper speakers with very limited performance
• No depth, no clarity, no bass
• Minimal sound insulation
For a vehicle built to handle the harshest environments, the audio system simply did not match the experience.
But for us, this is the perfect starting point.
Understanding the Customer
Before starting any project, we always focus on one key question:
👉 How will the vehicle be used?
Matt uses his LandCruiser to travel into remote areas where most vehicles cannot go. This meant:
• The system must be reliable
• No compromise on durability
• Clean OEM-style installation
• No unnecessary complexity
• Strong, controlled sound for long drives
This is not a city car. This is a 4WD built for adventure, so the system needed to match that identity.

We designed a complete upgrade focused on performance, reliability and integration:

• MATCH UP 6 DSP amplifier

Installation time: 5 to 6 days
Stage 1: Speaker Installation and Full Rewiring 🔧
We began with the foundation of the system: the speakers.
The selected components were designed to deliver clarity, durability and consistency, even in demanding environments.
This stage took approximately 3 days, because we went beyond a simple replacement.
We focused on:
• Running new high-quality speaker cables
• Proper routing to avoid interference
• Secure mounting adapted to the vehicle
• Integration of additional features like USB charging points
• Clean OEM-style finishing
The LandCruiser is not an easy car to work on if you want to do things properly. Everything needs to be robust, well secured and ready for vibration, dust and long-term use.
Stage 2: Acoustic Treatment with STP Gold 🎯
Once the speaker system was in place, we moved to one of the most important upgrades:
👉 Sound deadening
We applied STP Gold across all four doors, which is one of our preferred materials for premium builds.
This process took another full day, and it is critical for achieving a high-quality result.

• Better speaker efficiency
• More controlled and refined sound
Without proper acoustic treatment, even the best speakers will underperform.
Stage 3: Custom Subwoofer and DSP Integration 🎶

We designed and built a custom subwoofer enclosure to integrate seamlessly into the vehicle without compromising usable space.
At the same time, we installed the:
👉 MATCH UP 6 DSP amplifier
This unit is a game changer.
It allows us to:
• Control every speaker individually
• Apply time alignment
• Adjust phase and crossover points
• Tune with precision using a 30-band EQ
• Create a balanced soundstage inside the cabin
When Matt first saw the amplifier and we explained its capabilities, he was already impressed. But the real impact comes when you hear it.
Stage 4: Source Upgrade with Kenwood 📲
For the head unit, we chose a Kenwood system.
