🏁 The Beginning
When Edward visited our workshop with his 2019 Honda Civic Type R, he knew the car had plenty of performance on the road — but the audio system left much to be desired. After a friendly consultation, listening sessions, and reviewing upgrade paths, he chose a balanced Helix + Match DSP solution with full soundproofing.
Our mission: deliver the clarity, depth, and impact the Civic Type R deserves, while preserving the OEM interior and controls.
🔧 The 4-Day Installation Journey
Upgrading a performance car like the Civic Type R takes time, care, and precision. Here’s how we approached the project across four days:
Day 1 – Disassembly & Preparation
- Removed door panels, trims, and factory speakers
- Documented wiring and signal paths for CANBUS integration
- Prepped the Civic with protective covers to ensure no damage during work
- Began applying STP Sound Deadening to the inner door skins
Day 2 – Front & Rear Speaker Upgrade
- Installed Helix Ci3 K165.2FM-S2 Front Component Speakers with tweeters + crossovers
- Replaced rear units with Helix Ci3 Rear Basic Speakers
- Used FlexMount adapters and Honda Civic-specific harnesses for a factory-fit finish
- Continued applying soundproofing to all four doors to reduce vibrations and road noise
Day 3 – Amplifier & Subwoofer Integration
- Mounted the Helix K10 SE2 Subwoofer in a compact, tuned enclosure
- Installed the Match UP 8DSP amplifier with PP PAC 25 harness for plug-and-play integration
- Wired and calibrated the Helix URC.1 remote controller for easy in-cabin subwoofer control
- Secured all wiring with OEM-style loom wrapping for a stealthy look
Day 4 – DSP Tuning & Final Checks
- Performed professional tuning with DSP PC-Tool software
- Calibrated a 30-band EQ, time alignment, phase correction, and sound staging
- Conducted test drives to fine-tune response and ensure balanced clarity across all frequencies
- Delivered the car back to Edward with a transformed sound system — crystal-clear vocals, punchy bass, and an insulated cabin environment
